Shinkudo Belt
A traditional belt from Japanese martial arts. Firm yet flexible. The soul of a fighter. Traditionally, the belt color changes with skill and proficiency, from white to black.
The Bujin Shinkudoryu system has 10 apprentice grades and 10 master grades. The following color gradation of apprentice belts is used:
Beginners (uncertified novices) - white belt
10th and 9th kyu - purple belt
8th and 7th kyu - blue belt
6th and 5th kyu - yellow belt
4th and 3rd kyu - green belt
2nd and 1st kyu - brown belt
All official colored belts have the school name embroidered on the right side. Within a single color, senior kyu may be distinguished by a black stripe. Starting with brown belts, the name of the belt holder is embroidered on the left side; thus, senior apprentices' belts are named. Holders of master's degrees from 1st dan and above wear custom-made black belts.
